Walking beyond the Lake District

Whilst most of our walks and activities are Lake District based, we do venture further afield.

We're currently in Spain and getting ready for a multi-activity week starting in a few days time. Today there was time for a mountain walk around the magnificent Sierra de Bernia, or more commonly referred to simply as the Bernia ridge.

A steady hour of gentle uphill takes us to the forat (tunnel or cave through the rock), and this allows access to the southern (sunny) side of the ridge, albeit after a squeeze through the narrow forat!

After being in the shade, it was wonderful to emerge into bright sunshine and be warmed by the rays. A clear path leads all the way to a 15th century fort. A perfect place for lunch whilst enjoying views of the ridge itself and the coastline.

As well as multi-activity holidays, we can arrange guided walking holidays to this area. A perfect lift during the cold UK winter months. Temperatures today were around 20C.

Tomorrow will likely be another walking day and the forecast is fabulous yet again.

If you feel the urge to escape the UK winter for a while please do get in touch, we still have availability.
