Descending Scafell Pike in sublime conditions - 3 Peaks Challenge

3 Peaks Challenge - We are here to support you

For us the weekend kicked off with a Friday night spent on Scafell Pike. With 10 work colleagues from the London area all helping to raise funds for cancer charities, they had already summited Ben Nevis and been snowed on at the summit!!!

So I think all were relieved to arrive in Wasdale to a glorious summers evening, conditions were totally perfect. The team were a little behind schedule, but as the evening turned into night, this actually turned out to be a good thing. We enjoyed a quiet ascent, the summit to ourselves, and wow what a sunset from high on the mountain. And still back before torches were really needed, which was bang on midnight.

Leaving Wasdale at this time would give far quieter driving conditions to reach Wales in a more relaxed manner and hopefully all the walkers managed some sleep.

It was T-shirt weather on the way up, but as soon as we stopped high up and began the descent, all the layers and even gloves were out and on. Temperature was likely around 0C on the summit.

Thanks to Claire and the team
