Alpinesque day on the Scafell range

Guided-Walking-Langdale-and-Scafell

Setting off from the New Dungeon Ghyll, Langdale

After our winter spell away working and playing in Spain, it's really great to be back in the Lake District. So far the weather has been mixed, with a fair amount of rain and snow, a bit grey to be honest.
Then the clouds parted, the sun shone brightly, snow reflecting the bright sun to great effect and wow did it feel fantastic to be out in the Lakeland mountains (well it always does, just some days more than others).

Today we had 2 parties of walkers out on the Scafell range. I was walking with Dawn and friends, and we began the walk at the New Dungeon Ghyll in Langdale. Progress was good and steady, with plenty of stops for photos (a must on a day like today), we enjoyed lunch at Esk Hause, still in T-shirts too!!
We went on to summit Ill Crag and Great End before returning to the Langdale valley and finishing with a drink at the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel, obligatory of course.
Due to tough conditions underfoot, we were out walking for 8 hours 30 minutes today, so a big day. Well done all. And Happy Birthday to Dawn 🙂

Whilst we were enjoying this route, Jason and his pals were enjoying the Borrowdale route, being expertly guided by Kristina. Without any forward planning, we all managed to meet up, by chance, on the summit of Great End. Brilliant timing!
The lads were also celebrating a big birthday - Happy Birthday Jason - and brought along a little Brandy to keep them warm! They too had a big day out, 8 hours on the mountain. No doubt there'll be a few aching muscles tonight / tomorrow!

Thanks everyone and particularly to Kristina, Dawn, and Jason
