Heart Radio on Scafell Pike

The Breakfast team from Heart Radio on the summit of Scafell Pike today
This morning we were out on Scafell Pike offering support for our friends at Highpoint Mountain Guides and Challenge The Wild Events. Assisting the massively enthusiastic breakfast team from Heart Radio.

With an early start we were all feeling a little tired even before starting the ascent, but the mountain environment of Wasdale and the Scafell Massif does plenty to inspire and motivate. We enjoyed good views, no, stunning views, as far as the river crossing over Lingmell Beck. After that we were swallowed up by the think mist and this stayed with us all the way to the summit. Some of the team needed to dig really deep to keep going, but the team spirit kept everyone moving and smiling. Team spirit should never be underestimated on these events, always try to save a few motivating / comforting words for your fellow walkers, it can make all the difference.

There was lots of camera / microphone time on the summit, not sure if this was a live broadcast or will air later, but I'm sure it will air soon. Then we raced for the finish line back at Wasdale Head. The speed down was quick, almost too quick! Once at the river crossing the view opened up once more and we were reminded of where we were, surrounded by the beautiful Lakeland mountains.

Weather had been damp and cold throughout, with intermittent drizzle and a blustery wind. For the most part none of this effected any of us. Although it maybe led to a speedier than usual descent to reach warmer climes!

Always great to be on Scafell Pike, thanks to Joe at Highpoint, Dan at Challenge the Wild, and all the team at Heart Radio.

Mark
