Our Saturday attempt at Scafell Pike from the Borrowdale valley was sadly thwarted by the weather!
Working in partnership with The Fresh Air Learning team and HSBC we made it to Styhead where the wind and rain were both making their presence felt.
Bivi shelters came out whilst we discussed options. Great Gable came out top as our shorter, more enjoyable outing. This certainly isn't 2nd best to Scafell Pike, and much fun was had. Views from the summit were limited and the wind still fresh.
In place on the summit is the new memorial dedicated to members of the FRCC (Fell and Rock Climbing Club) who fell during WW1.
During the descent, clouds lifted and we were allowed glimpses of the big mountains all around us, including The Gables and Scafells.
Good day all ending with sunshine and smiles.
