Thanks Anis for a great day out!
Just back from a lovely day out walking up Scafell Pike from Wasdale with Anis. The weather turned out to be far better than was forecast, with sun for almost all the day. Above Lingmell Col there was lots of hard snow and ice making the going more tricky. We carefully ascended as far as the first 'zig' and after an assessment of the conditions and a discussion with Anis we opted for turning back and heading up Lingmell instead. This was a great choice - the snow was much softer having been in the sun and it was peaceful - we only met two other walkers up there who shared the same lunch spot which was sheltered from a biting wind. The route off Lingmell is mostly down a beautiful grassy shoulder, steep in places but with great views of Wastwater, a super route down from Scafell Pike if you ever want a change from usual, busy path down through Hollowstones.
Thanks Anis for a great day out!
