What a scorcher!!

Today I was out on Scafell Pike with a team from Boots Hearing Care, a division of Boots the retailers.

They were being sensible and attempting the 3 Peaks over 3 days, this is so much nicer than going for the 24 hour challenge and still a big undertaking.

Ben Nevis had provided panoramic views from the summit, an unusual scene indeed. Not to be outdone, Scafell Pike also came up with the goods, allowing us to enjoy outstanding views in all directions.

Emily asked me which is my favourite of the 3 peaks. At this point we were on our descent and just below Lingmell Col, so right before our eyes were the huge crags of Scafell. The answer is clear, Scafell Pike every time, for whilst the other mountains are both fine places, neither allow their massive rock faces to be enjoyed as closely for the walker as does Scafell Pike. And after all, Wasdale is the birthplace of British mountaineering, what more could you ask for.

Upon arrival at the summit, Jonathan was interviewed by a student from the University of Cumbria. The study was to learn more about peoples motivations for climbing Scafell Pike, be interesting to find out the results.

Our total time on the mountain today was a mere 5 hours, so pretty speedy.

Kate was also guiding on Scafell Pike today. Taking a couple along the Borrowdale paths via the Corridor route and returning via Esk Hause. Due to the additional distance, their day was a little longer, but very pleasant and enjoyable.

Thanks everyone.
