About Us

Mark & Kate live in Ambleside in the heart of the Lake District.  We were brought together through the outdoors and have been actively working in the outdoors for many years now.  Between us we have ascended Scafell Pike hundreds of times from many different routes and have an excellent knowledge of the Lake District.  We both hold the Mountain Leader award, the nationally recognized qualification for anyone leading guided walks in the mountainous regions of the UK. We can offer an insight into the mountain environment and can probably answer most of your questions. We’ll certainly try our best!

We also run a multi-activity and guided walking business ‘Mountain Journeys’, based in Ambleside all year round and in Costa Blanca during the winter months where the climate is perfect for walking and climbing.

​As well as guiding all these amazing walks and activities, we own and manage a Bed & Breakfast in the centre of Ambleside. 2 Cambridge Villas offers well appointed and comfortable accommodation for the visitor.

In our spare time we can be found in the mountains. Fell running, rock climbing, walking, and scrambling.
